How to Transfer Gemstone Lights Ownership

Moving into a new home with Gemstone Lights is exciting! Soon, you'll enjoy the limitless possibilities of millions of colours and hundreds of patterns on your home.

There can be some confusion about warranties and connecting the lights to your device, so you'll find those details in this guide. To start, you'll need a few key pieces of information.

  • Your Hub type:
    • Hub 1 - Installed before Oct 1, 2024
    • Hub 2 - Installed after Oct 1, 2024
  • The warranty information
  • The contact info for your authorized Gemstone Lights installer

What is the Gemstone Lights Warranty?

All Gemstone Light installations are covered by a warranty as long as they were installed by an authorized dealer. However, the warranties differ depending on which hub you have.

Hub 1 has a five (5) year product warranty.
Hub 2 has a 10-year product warranty and a lifetime warranty on the lights (50,000 hours).

The remaining warranty can be transferred to you when you take possession of the house. You have 90 days from taking possession to register the warranty in your name.

Please be aware that the warranty could also be forfeited if the original homeowner did not register.

If Kraun installed your lights within the last 12 months, there may also be some remaining installation warranty.

How do you transfer the Gemstone Lights Warranty?

The process is relatively simple:

  1. Have your basic contact information ready.
  2. Contact the authorized dealer who installed the lights to tell them of the transfer.

That's it!

The dealer will contact their Gemstone Lights representative to transfer the information. Currently, there is no way to confirm that the transfer is complete. However, you can ask your authorized Gemstone Lights dealer to provide you with the remaining warranty timeframe and copies of the documentation.

Transferring Gemstone Lights Control: Hub 1

Similar to the warranties, there are two different processes for transferring your Gemstone Lights to a new homeowner.

For Hub 1, you can complete the transfer through the Gemstone Lights app. The previous owner must complete the following instructions on the app, as listed by Gemstone Lights:

  1. To transfer the lights to a new homeowner, go into your controller by tapping on it.
  2. Tap on the settings in the bottom right.
  3. Tap reset Bluetooth
  4. Confirm
  5. Lastly, restore the controller to the factory settings. To do this, tap 'Reset Factory Defaults' at the bottom of the list and press confirm.
  6. The controller is now ready for the new homeowner to set up!

Transferring Gemstone Lights Control: Hub 2

Prior to beginning: Ensure you’re near the Gemstone Lights Hub and have your Home WiFi password ready.

  1. From Home, tap + > Add a Device.
  2. You have multiple options to connect.
  3. Connect with Bluetooth (Scans for Gemstone Lights Hub 2 Controllers in your vicinity)
  4. Connect with QR scan (Requires you to Scan the QR code on the controller or provided sticker)
  5. The app will automatically fill in the WiFi network your phone is connected to.
  6. Enter your WiFi password, tap Connect.
  7. Your device will go through a connecting process. (This step is where most issues are encountered. Refer to the error message to identify the cause of your problem)
  8. A "Device Successfully Connected" message will appear. Tap Setup Now.
  9. Enter a name; tap Next.
  10. Enter a location name or tap the auto-locate button, and tap Save.
  11. Tap Continue.
  12. Create a device icon, and tap Next.
  13. Success! Tap Done.

There is also a Bluetooth connection method for Hub 2, but Gemstone Lights recommends the Wi-Fi connection for better reliability. Like above, there is also an instructional video to support you.
